Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. (1943 - 1997), known as John Denver.
이 노래는 1986년 John Denver가 그의 두번째 아내, Cassandra Delaney를
구애하는 중에 쓴 곡이다. 두사람은 1988년 결혼했다가 1991년 갈라진 후
1993년에 이혼했으니 그래도 사랑의 노래만은 영원히 남아 지금도 우리의
심금을 울린다는 증거가 되는 셈이다.
그의 첫번째 결혼 역시 1982년 이혼으로 끝맺었으니 아내 Annie Martell에게
바쳤던 "Annie's Song" 역시 같은 사연으로 남는 노래이다.
