Castor와 Pollux:
백조로 가장한 Jupiter(Zeus)에게 유혹되어 Leda가 낳은 알(egg)에서 태어난 쌍둥이 형제.
로마 신화의 Gemini, 그리스 신화의 Kastor와 Polydeuces 이다. Helen ('Helen of Troy')의
남자 형제들이기도 하다.

전투에서 전사한 Castor. 형제의 죽음을 복수하는 Pollux.
연인을 잃은 슬픔에 있는 Telaire
(아리아: Tristes apprêts, pâles flambeaux*).
Telaire를 짝사랑하던 Pollux는 그녀와 결혼하여 위로하려 하지만 Telaria는
차라리 죽은 Castor가 되돌아 오는 것을 원한다.
Jupiter는 그녀의 소원을 들어주나 Pollux가 대신 지하 Hades로 내려가는
조건이다. Pollux가 이에 동의하고, Pollux를 사랑하는 Phebe도 뒤를 따른다.
지상에 돌아가기를 원하는 Castor이지만 형제의 희생을 받아드릴 수 없다.
대신, 단 하루만 Telaire 곁에 있겠다 한다.
결국엔 Jupiter도 마음을 돌리고 두 형제에게 영원한 생명을 준다.
